Arese, Italy - Alfa Romeo will be celebrating its centennial in 2010 and rejoining the North American market at the same time. In preparation for these two events, we thought it would be interesting to visit the Alfa Romeo Museum located in Arese, in the suburbs of Milano, in order to get re-acquainted with this prestigious brand.
Well before Ferrari and Maserati entered the scene, Alfa Romeo already had a long and impressive history dating to back to the dawn of the automobile. We are reminded that young Enzo Ferrari started his brief racing career with Alfa Romeo and was later appointed team manager. This explains the presence of the yellow on black Scuderia Ferrari badge which is still featured on some of the vintage race cars we had the privilege in admiring at the Arese Museum.
For those interested, please note that the Alfa Romeo Museum is awaiting renovations and therefore not permanently open to the general public. However, you can still visit the museum by appointment, by contacting Stephano Agazzi, Director of Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, at stefano.agazzi@alfaromeo.com or by phone: +39 02 444 29 322.
Believe me, it is well worth the effort! Enjoy your visit.
