Step 1

Get frames

Choose from four feather-light titanium frames that fit with your prescription or no prescription at all. When purchasing Glass, add your preferred frame as an accessory.

Thin
Bold
Curved
Split

All frame styles are made of durable titanium, designed by the Google Glass team specifically for Glass. New frames are shipped with non-prescription lenses, but can be replaced with prescription lenses with the help of an eyecare provider.

Included with frames is a custom hard case that you can use to keep your Glass and frames safe from bumps and scratches. Also included are replacement nosepads, cleaning cloth, and a precision screwdriver.

Step 2

Swapping frames

Glass comes with a lens-free band you can swap for other Glass frames. New frames are shipped with a free precision screwdriver especially made for Glass. Use the screwdriver to loosen the screw on the inside of the Glass device near where your temple would be.

Loosening the screw takes a number of twists. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. Pop the frame out of position and pull it in the direction of the Glass display to remove it.

When finished, reverse the process to re-attach the Glass device to the Glass frame with the screwdriver. Drape the included cleaning cloth over the lenses to protect them while using the screwdriver.

Step 3

Installing prescription lenses

Replacing the non-prescription lenses with prescription lenses requires an eyecare provider. You can use your own eyecare provider or one of our Preferred Providers. Preferred Providers have been specially trained on Glass and are well versed on the specifics of fulfilling prescription frame lenses.

We recommend discussing your options with a Glass Preferred eyecare provider or your eye doctor to see if your prescription is compatible with Glass frames. We recommend lenses cut within +4 to -4 with astigmatism up to 2D. Check with your eyecare provider for more information if you're unsure if that means you.

When visiting your eyecare provider, take Glass with you. Your eyecare professional will either use your existing prescription or perform a new eye test. The frames (not Glass) will be sent and new lenses will be cut. Your eyecare provider will arrange a time for you to pick them up when they are ready.

Are you an eyecare provider interested in signing up to be a Preferred Provider? Apply at the Preferred Providers site.
